Bridge over troubled water...

view of the bridge from the equally vertigeous viewing point!
There are 12 of us on this narrow suspension bridge and it's swinging & swaying just a little too much for comfort. The water pounds the rock 197 feet below us carving this chasm ever deeper and the roar of the water echoing around the Corrieshalloch Gorge adds to the drama. The chasm is so narrow and the trees so thick that the bridge, or more to the point the drop takes you by surprise, you're on it before you realize.
This was the point mrs cuttsy's vertigo kicked in, it was also the point at which she broke into a panicked run and in a strange run of coincidences it was also the point the bridge started to swing! The eleven of us left on the bridge gingerley (apt given we are in Scotland) make our way across the bridge. It's at this point I see the sign "Never more than 6 people on the bridge at any one time"

Yeah. I've always been somewhat sceptical about the merits of rope as a construction material for bridges. It's fine for tying your boat up or lassoing a stray sheep, but when it comes to providing passage over a massive gorge it just doesn't cut it for me. I have similar issues with rollercoasters made of wood.
