imagine my excitement...

Sad I know, but this blogging lark is addictive! I came across a great page counter utility a week or so ago statcounter.com which not only gives you the usual rolling counter on your page BUT also tracks your visitors via cookies. Once logged in (free sign up) you can access loads of statistics about your page - page loads, unique visits, referring address - all the usual stuff but one great little option is the visitor map.

This plots out on a zoomable world map the host locations for your visiting IPs, each map marker can be clicked on for further information (linked to Google Earth you can even see the state of their garden and colour of their car*)

I've only been open for business a week or so and I have had hits from New Zealand, New York and California AND they stayed to read the blogs (or went and made themselves a coffee before returning to real surfing)!

Right gotta go and search for inspiration, after all I have a world wide audience to look after!

* OK, maybe not but had you going there for a moment eh?
