Good Clean Fun

Monkey World is fab! The unruly little rascals running around, pushing each other, screaming, howling and climbing on everything I suppose is expected. Especially during summer holidays, although I would have expected the parents to do more to control them.

The monkeys themselves though were great, currently starring on channel five "Monkey Life" at 18.30 every evening, they are more entertaining and certainly more intelligent than the ego-maniacal bunch in the Big Brother house. As soon as we started watching Monkey Life a few weeks ago we started planning a camping trip to Dorset to tie in a visit there and at the first sign of decent weather the car was packed and away we went.

leave me alone now, i'm tiredThe Orangs are the stars of the sanctuary, especially A-mei foster mother to a playful and entertaining nursery group, well worth a 20 minute stop to watch their antics!

All the different apes at the park have amazing enclosures, even though it is funded by donations and visitors it is obvious that they have been built for the apes comfort and not for us humans to gawp at the apes. This really is an animal sanctuary and not a zoo, apart from those born here all the apes have been rescued from one bad situation or another and whilst they will never be released back to the wild, they will live out their lives in comfort.

you're disturbing my sunbathing man!I resisted the urge to adopt a monkey and further resisted the stronger urge to nick one and bring it home as a pet, quite a few of these guys are here because they were bought as pets and then kept on their own in small cages. Belive it or not the UK is one of ther worst countries for this!

Monkey World is a great day out, it's not a zoo and you get the feeling that the people who work there are there for the love of the job. Strangely though because of the TV show I came away feeling like I had seen a few famous characters!

The only downer for us was the amount a people there, this place is a victim of its' own success. The TV show combined with school holidays meant that after the first hour (it opens its' doors at 10am) the place was absolutley stacked, so after a way too short visit of just a couple of hours we escaped vowing to come back mid week and avoiding the holiday periods.
Monkey World is fab!

If you ever find yourself in Dallas,Texas it's well worth taking a trip to the Dallas aquarium. The name is a bit misleading as, rather than an aquarium in the traditional sense, it's more of an indoor rain forest. It's a great place to see monkeys. The thing about it is that wherever possible, they don't put the animals in cages or tanks but use 'nature' instead. The monkeys just run about freely in there with no bars or anything so you get to see them really close up. The only thing that keeps them from being interfered with by the viewing public are some trees which are creatively called monkey no climb trees (they have spikes which stop the monkeys climbing them.

I'd Love to go to monkeyworld, or the Dallas Aquarium.

Problem is, I'd probably end up trying to smuggle one of the animals out!!! They are SOOOO cute!
